Sooth Shivers (beta)

Hosted by The Kick and Push Festival 2023, three movement artists workshopped the initial choreography of project Sooth Shivers. During their intensive residency, the trio created a compelling movement embodying the elements earth and fire. 

 

Future stages of this project aims to expand the capacity of space used and integrate media for an augmented experience.

Seymour Irons

Producing Artist

Seymour Irons is an interdisciplinary Queer Black artist situated in Kingston Ontario. While completing his undergraduate degree in Media and Performance Production at Queens University, Seymour has started an entertainment company of his own called See More Wake Up (2020). His creation work focuses on the intersections between the mystical and the mundane, and what we could learn from these discoveries. During the process of creative development Seymour found himself growing spiritually and now in turn offers the lessons learned on his journey in one-to-one coaching and entertainment sessions with people across north-america. Seymour has always loved to perform, from sound design, to dance, to theater. He can be known for previous roles as Cadmus in Grapevine Theatres “Harmonia”,and  as Lucy in Queens University's “Not Wanted on the Voyage.” Recently Seymour has completed the PXR IBPOC fellowship where he practiced and performed Virtual Reality design. During this experience he had the opportunity to produce sound for Tactics Theatre’s “Anasi V. God(s)”. 

 

Seymour’s summer has been full of research creation and production. He has been working with the DAN school of drama and music as an assistant artistic researcher. Here he has produced two workshops in live performance creation, and demoed vr showings from Montreal to Toronto. So far 2023 has been filled with creative exploration and growth for Seymour and he plans to explore more through immersive, site specific movement in project “Sooth Shivers”.

Kay Vukelic

Movement Artist

Kay Vukelic is a multidisciplinary performer and artist with a passion for stage acting, dance, and comedy. They graduated with a B.A. in Drama from Queen’s University in 2021, and spent most of the quarantine era with 6 AM Productions, performing improvisational comedy and hosting corporate team-building events over Zoom for major companies across the world, such as Google, Snapchat, Meta, Coca-Cola, Amazon, McDonald’s, Nike, Lego, and many more. Post-lockdown, Kay has been seen in various productions across the Kingston theater scene, most recently in ‘Harmonia’, directed by Nigel Shawn Williams (Grapevine Theatre), and as Maureen in “The Time of Our Life” by Alan Ayckbourn (Domino Theatre). While at Queen’s, Kay Vukelic had the opportunity to train under industry professionals like Chick Reid, Greg Wanless, Craig Walker, Melissa Morris, Tim Fort, and many more who helped shape their craft.

 

Some of Kay’s favorite roles that have been fundamental to who they are today are Joan from ‘Fun Home’ (Queen’s Musical Theatre), Soccer Mom from ‘The Wolves’ directed by Brenda Bazinet (Dan School of Drama and Music), Rosie in Cabaret (Queen’s Musical Theatre) and Amanda Wingfield from ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennesse Williams. Lastly, Kay Vukelic wouldn’t be anywhere without the support of their theater friends, and they try their best to facilitate a loving and supportive community through/with their work.

Felicia Holmes

Movement Artist

Felicia Holmes is a performer of many mediums. Originally from Toronto, she got her start in performing from her school's production of Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing at 10- years-old. Ever since then, Felicia has been chasing all forms of presentation to work with fellow artists/audiences to create a better world. She graduated from the Music Theatre program at St. Lawrence College and Queen's University where she honed her skills as an artist of Shakespeare, voice, acting, directing, and dance and movement. Felicia currently has been working to help others enjoy performance as much as she does by co-directing and choreographing at the Thousand Islands Playhouse Summer Theatre Camp productions: The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever and Press Start. Felicia has been in many of your favorite musicals like Shrek, The Drowsy Chaperone, Beauty and the Beast etc. She is eager to do works that will challenge her emotional and physical capabilities and push the audience to think about the life around them!

Raaid Raafe

Videographer

Raaid Raafe is a Videographer completing their bachelors degree in Film at Queens University. He has worked with See More Wake Up as the main camera operator for The Immaculate Chronicles of Afternoon Delights, the Wake Up Tee marketing campaign. While studying, Raaid has worked with Queens Events services as a camera operator for the university's home games. He is continually inspired by the work of the directors: Roger Deakins, Emmanuel lubezki, and Gordon Willis. Raaid’s approach almost always centers around using his skills and expertise to deliver his clients’ vision to the best of his ability and I am always committed to creating something with the highest quality possible.
